No system-font fallback. Direct and lego both use the current harvested alphabet; every generated image rebuilds it from the newest shapes. Evolving, throwup and wildstyle mutate the original template and the current finished shapes, then compare soft/hard, faded/dotted, convex/concave, aligned and overlapping edges. Fine hard line groups can still count as a soft gradient when their spacing supports it. Named fonts also carry structural constraints: stem count, counter treatment, curve vocabulary, serif, baseline and orientation.
